Need CPS sensor info.

Just bought a 2000 F350. I have read the CPS failure is not uncommon on these trucks. My sensor has not failed yet, but I want to replace it before it does. What is the part #for a stock sensor? Is there such thing as a performance CPS? How difficult are they to change? Where is the cheapest place to find one?All advice welcome?

One of our sponsors can ship u one for $95 to your door.
http://www.blackclouddiesel.com/Ford/codepigtails.htm Ford dealers get $175
and an IHC dealer gets about $100.
No such thing as a performance CPS.
Fairly easy to change with 10mm socket and flat blade screwdriver. Access
from under truck and look near the crankshaft pulley for a wire to black connector. Don't forget to lube the O ring seal.

As soon as the weather clears up, I will take mine out and lube it so that when I have to do it, it will be easier to remove. Also, maybe a set of long needle nosed pliers just in case it is stuck and a 10 mm socket with a short extension in the quarter inch variety?

Cps -doa!

Just replaced my CSP this morning on my 01 7.3 Diesel. Yesterday it just quit me like I turned off the key. Not a very pleasent exper. I was able to get it started but for a few seconds then quit. Towed it home and after cooling down a bit it started up and ran for aprox. one minute. Then it died again. I put my code analizer on it and Zero codes showed up. With all the talk on CPS failures I went to IH and purchased a $100 CPS. Put it in and down the road I went. The engine didnt sputter like some I have read about. Does anyone know why I couldnt pull a code? The IH # was different from the one someone gave out. Its 1825899C93 Im going to go out and get another to put in the glove box. My wife would have a heart attack if that would of happened to her!!!

Talking

I read a thread about why it doesnt throw a code ....forgive me for para=phrasing ..."it is such an intermittent occurance that when the vehicle starts and resets" ...blah blah blah it cant register a trouble code has to be hooked up and reading at time of occurance , but if it is running it cant occur....lol
I replaced mine on my 2002 with only 58,000...it would die and start back up for months ...finally it gave up. I still have it, bought mine at IH for about 93.00+ tx The hardest part was finding it in the block ...I took 30 minutes just re=reading the post and a private e mail. then when I did find it HAllelujah. It was a lil tuff to get my knuckles in there but I used a 1/4 in drive and universal swivel with extension to get between the fan blades etc . Had to pry it out with some force was scared I was gonna break it. Just heat and whatever made the o-ring expand , new one slipped right in. fired right up
THX to all here who helped me too
FTE all the way

Motoroil should be fine. Vaseline works too.

CPS issues

When I had towed my p-up home I tore into a elec. cellinoid(sp) below the fuel filter thinking that it was a fuel cellinoid. Maybe it would short after it started to energized and warmed up so had the coil in hand when I went to IH. I dont have a book on my 01 7.3 so was guessing that it was the fuel intake cellinoid. The guy behind the counter hadnt seen anyone bring in such a part on a power stroke and immediatly started talking CPS so took his advice. Does anyone know if the e-bay CPS (black) is as good as what I got from IH?
