Help to decode a VIN

This is the VIN off the paperwork (88EQ21342). The truck is a 48 F-7. I have yet to verify this on the truck's frame rail. There are some numbers and letters on the firewall but they are too faint to read. Any idea how many F-7's were made in 48?
Thanks,
John - NNY

John--
If you check out the 49/50 cut off thread, the decoding info is in there. So far as F-7's go I have no idea. There should be a plate on the firewall with the VIN on it. If the numbers are stamped into the firewall, they're apparently factory specific numbers we're trying to figure out, but can get some info from, if you can read them.

Good luck!

John,

Take a good look at the numbers on the firewall and see if you can read them. We amy be able to get you the orginal color of the truck, assembly plant, and date it was built from those numbers. What you have so far I will do my best with.

8 = 1948
8EQ = F7 with large (337 cid) flathead v8 and 135" wheelbase
21342 = Sequence #

Sorry but no idea how many F7's were built that year.

BTW - That is a beautiful truck you have. Would ove to see some interior shots.
