I have a tilt wheel and column assembly with cruise control that I'm trying to identify. I looked all over it and the the only numbers I saw are G3 74. (on the back of the wheel.)
I was wondering if there may be a hidden location on the unit which would have a more revealing code. (Hopfully a place where I don't have to rip the whole thing apart.)
John, I'm going to take a stab in the dark: If it is a FORD column without an ignition switch its probably from a '73(ish)to a '79 F-Series truck, you have the column, you must know where (generally) it came from, are you trying to put it into a Ford truck? Supercab
Weren't the 78-79 Bronco's the only ones that had tilt? I don't remember seeing any pickups with it.
Dave,
79 F-150 4x4, 390 w/C6, Edelbrock carb, 33X12.50 never will be finished.
It's got the key in the column. I want to get rid of it cause I got laid off and I could use a few extra dollars. I got it to replace the unit in my '76 F150. I thought it would be "cool" to have a tilt wheel w/cruise control in ol' Brown Sugar. It never happened and this has been sittin' in the garage for years.
I was told by the guy I bought it from that it came out of a Mercury and that it would work. But he didn't say what year or model.
So if I was gonna sell it, I thought I should know a little more about it. Except now I'm feeling guilty because maybe I shouldn't have posted this here as it seems to be turning out more car related than Ford truck. I appologize to Mr. Payne and
everyone for being out of line. I don't know who else to ask.

I don't have any insight on the identity, but I suggest posting a classified ad. There are plenty of enthusiasts out there that may be looking for a tilt column. If you have access to a digital camera, perhaps a picture might help sell it. Goood luck.
