351m 400?

hey i just recently joined this forum when i baught my first 79 f150 i just turned 16 a few day ago and i was woundering what are the physical difference between a 351m and a 400 becuase when i baught it he said it had a 351 modifed 400 is there any such thing thanks for the help.

to my knowledge, no. a 351 and 400 are very close in design except for pistons and crank. everything else should swap between the two.

thanks for that i just wasnt sure like if maybe and oil pan difference or intake.

An easy way to tell is to measure the stroke. 3.5 inches, then it is a 351m, 4.0 inches and it is a 400. Or you could take the intake off and there should be 400 cast into the lifter valley.
