I recently did my first oil change on my 2000 Expedition, I have driven aprox. 2000 km/1200 miles, and the oil is about half way between full and add on the dipstick. Is this normal oil consumption for a 5.4l Ford engine/

Reason: spelling
Right after the oil change, did you run the engine and recheck the oil level. When you first fill it full a new oil, you'll have to add more after running the engine cause the oil filter will take up some of the oil.
Welcome dmr! I took the opportunity to merge your two thread, it looked like you posted twice.
Like the other folks said, check the dipstick after changing the oil to see where it's at right after the change. That way you can get a better idea of how much the oil level falls when you check it later.

My truck has 118000km/70000mi on it. I did check the oil level after changing and running. It has dropped some. Do these engines go through a litre in 2 or 3000 miles, which would be okay if the consumption stays at this amount.

i haven't had mine long enough to know personally yet, but there was a post recently where folks compared levels of burning oil...i think it was titled something like 'oil burning' or something similar to yours. might want to run a search and check that out.
Seems like around a quart of oil burned per 3,000 miles is about average for these engines. It's been probably 6,000 miles since my last oil change (I know, bad) and I checked it the other weekend and it was about 3.5 quarts down! Glad I didn't let it go any further.
