Hey guys, my 78 Bronco driver's side door won't close fully. It will close to the first "click", but will not fully close on the second click. This happened all at once, and everything looks to be OK inside door jamb. Does the mechanism just need lube, or is there a spring that tends to break, etc.? Thanks for any advice. Don

I had the same problem with my 79 f-150.Turned out to be the hinges were worn out.I replaced one hinge at a time because I was doing the work by my self.It also made keeping the door aligned properly easier.Hope this helps
One way to find out if you need hinges is to open your door
and grab it by the bottom and try to pull up on the door. If
the door moves up you will need to replace the hinges.
Check the striker bolt, it's what the latch mechanism closes around when the door is closed. There should be a plastic sleeve around it. If this problem appeared suddendly, the plastic sleeve most likely broke off. New ones available from AutoZ**e for about six bucks.
If it is the striker, buy the whole striker. They sell new plastic to go on the strikers, but you can't get the washer off to change them.
