Just bought a 79 F150. It in real great shape. 400 motor has
105,000 original miles on it. When I first take off, I can hear the lifters. It quitens up when I pick up speed. When I slow down again, and start up a grade I again hear them. Other than that the truck runs great. I tried putting high grade gas it in but it didn't quiten them down. Any suggestions.
Yak, if you are wanting to try by adding things get a quart of Marvels Mystery Oil, and add it to the crank case and see if it helps. It is good stuff, can't guarentee it will fix your problem, but it will be good for the truck. :-)

In the still cool hours of the night,
you can hear chevys rusting away.
I was thinking the oil pressure. I'll check it out. I had a 74
a few years ago with a 351 with lifters that sounded like hell. But it ran great. Its just irritating to hear em'.
