Coil

Hey again,
Please can anyone tell me what can burn a coil up? I've gone thru 2 in a week. i'm reseting my timing. 89 ford 300 6 efi 4x4. no fire. any ideas? thanks.

leaving the ignition on , faulty or missing resistor wire. has anyone rewired the ignition?

well not actually rewired ign but my ign switch is broke and i have a toggle switch that has been working fine for a few years now, however ive just recently installed a new dist, a new starter relay , new plugs and new coil and new dist module. reset my timing. started it up ealier drove it to town got gas drove back home , total about twenty five miles and the truck backfired and now i have no fire a second time. ill get a new coil in the morning and ill get it to start again but for how long ? what do i need to check?

okay guys i put the new coil on, no fire. thinking of going back to old dizzy with my new ign module thinking it might be stator in this dizzy. any thoughts? stumped bad. please help.
