64 ignition removal help needed.

I tried to remove the ignition from a 64 f-100 parts truck and could not get it out. I pushed on the cylinder from behind to allow the bezel some freedom, turned it counter clockwise and it would not come out. This seemed to be the only direction the bezel would turn. Someone let me know if there is another step I'm missing.

thanks

The ignition is a system. What part of the ignition system are you trying to remove? Also, what kind of engine are you working on? From your description you could either be talking about a coil or a distributor.

Welcome to the forum. Hopefully we can help you.....

Sounds like you are trying to remove the ignition switch. Can't do it that way. Turn the key to the acc position (counterclockwise). The use a paper clip or something like that to push in the little pin in the hole under the key. While holding it in, turn the key further counterclockwise and the whole cylinder will come out. This lets bezel come off.

Thanks guys I knew there had to be a trick to getting it out. I kept looking at that little hole below the key slot wondering....

Glad to find out this trick before buying a new bezel.

Have cold beverages standing by when you put that baby back in. Can be a pain in the rump.
