Air flow problems
I have a '96 Windstar and the air doesn't blow through the vent when the selector is turned to vent. It seems that all the air supply/vaccum supplied to the actuators is missing.
Where does the air supply come from that controls the direction of air flow, and how do I check it...seems Chilton and Haynes both left this detail out of their books!

Go to www.fordcds.com and download your years manual.
Alot better than the POS Chilton or haynes.
The Aerostar is not even close in design to the Windy, Sorry, not many of us are familiar with the Windy.

The Aerostar may be much different from the Windstar, but some principles of operations are the same. The air doors in the HVAC systems are operated by vacuum motors. On the Aero, the main source is fed by a thin white plastic hose. On mine, it was attacked by rodents at some time, and they ate enough of it away to cause a leak that was big enough to cause the motors to not work, but not enough to affect engine operation.
I would suggest start with the simple things first: look for loose or broken vacuum lines under the hood. If you can't find any, then you might need to find a vacuum diagram and start looking at the controls in the dash.

Thanks for the ideas...I'm used to the Ranger forum and since the wifey got this windstar I haven't been able to find the right place to find any suggestions/ideas....thanks again though
