When using the EFI exhaust manifolds on a carbed 1986 300, do you have to use 2 exhaust systems, one for the front and one for the rear manifolds? I guess I hear alot about it, but never really understood how it all goes back together. Thanks
There is two options when using EFI exhaust manifolds. Either a walker downpipe which I have a picture of mine or use the stock pipes from an EFI truck. The stock pipes from an EFI truck have two separate pipes about 1 3/4 of an inch in diameter that are separate before going into the first cat by the O2 sensor. After they go into that cat they come out as a single pipe from there back. If you go that route you can get all that stuff from a junkyard along with the EFI exhaust manifolds. Once you get that stuff just cut it off before the cat and you'll have two separate pipes. If you go with the the walker downpipe it connects the two manifolds together into a single 2 1/2 inch pipe. I bought it simply for ease of connecting the two manifolds. Its not a performance piece. I haven't put it on my truck yet though, still collecting parts. Heres a picture of mine though hooked up to my EFI exhaust manifolds. Hope this helps.
I got mine at advance auto parts. I believe it was around $60. Ask for part number 45166. If you do get it, you might need to open up the hole in the rear exhaust port with a grinder. I know other guys have had to do the same. I had to on mine as well.
