I have an 84 F250 and a Banks turbo to put on it. I have decided I probably don't want it on their because I might sell the truck. I think I will sell the turbo seperate. How much is it worth? Am I better off keeping until I find another truck?
From my experience what something is worth depends on how bad someone wants what you have. I have seen garbage sell for good money. I have also seen real good stuff that you almost had to pay someone to haul away.
Three other factors enter into the pricing thing.
How bad do you want to get rid of it.
Where you are located.
Are all parts and directions still with it.
One of my neighbors has a turbo, stock Ford unit with none of the mounting brackets or anything else. Brand new, still sealed in the plastic bag inside the box. He paid 1250 for it from Ford and then sold his truck before he changed it out. The guy that bought the truck did not have the bucks for it so he did not take it. He has been after me to buy it, but I don't need it. I can't remember but I think he was down to 4 or 5 hundred the last time I saw him.
Maybe I should go offer him 2 or 3 hundred and see if I can twin turbo my truck.
I know I did not really answer your question Andy, but what it would bring here in WV and what it would bring where you are are probably not even close to the same price. If everything was there and in good shape, I would probably ask 1000 dollars and sell for something close to that where I am located.
But then again, if I was selling the truck I had and getting another one. If I thought there was any chance it might be a NA 6.9 or 7.3 engine, I would keep it till I had the other truck.
Why sell the turbo you have for 1000 and then turn around and have to give 2000 to replace it.

Its complete, but it has no directions. I had never thought about Ebay, I might try that. I have put it in the paper here in Arkansas and didn't get a single reply at $1000.
When you say used, do you mean its been on a truck and taken off or bought and never installed but a few years old? Im looking for a banks kit for my truck, and have been looking for a used one. If a used one sells for 1000, i might as well spend an extra 1000, get everything, get the warranty as well just in case anything breaks during installation or use, and have the peace of mind knowing that there are zero miles on it, wich means less likelyhood for potential problems. But thats just MHO, now if i found a used one on a truck in some junkyard for 50 bucks Id buy it, see what it needs, then fix it or bolt it right up. If yours is BRAND NEW, but outdated, put it on ebay in july, with a buy it now price and I might just buy it. If your wonderin why july lol thats cuz im asking for a turbo for my 18th birthday! lol jk do what you want with it!! If you let me know what all it has, miles etc.. missing parts u know the usual, i might make an offer.
It has no missing parts. It has been on my truck before but was taken off before I bought it. I have no idea how old it is or how many miles are on it.

Is the airbox square or "bubble shaped"? That will tell you if it's an older kit or a newer one. I would throw it on E-bay or sell it to one of these turbo hungry dudes on this site. Some people think $1000 is fair and others don't for a used kit. Remember to take shipping costs into account.
the auto versus manual use different mounting brackets, cross over pipes, and down pipe. i found this out the hard way when i converted the 88 from 5 speed to C6.
i had a complete new stainless system for the 5 speed, and none of it fit, so i had to buy all new parts, wasting $395 for the stick parts. they would not take them back, it was 2 years before i got to try putting them on.
