dp chip install question

dp chip install question

in the pict it shows chip all the way in the pcm but the one i got didnt go in that far is this normal because it said to put tape over chip to hold it in.

It goes pretty far in. Make sure you have it lined up right.

BUT - make VERY certain you have every bit of the goop removed from the contacts. If you don't get good contact between the chip and your PCM, you can fry both.

It goes in fairly far, but it does stick out some, so it sounds normal, I got electrical tape all around the end of the chip and the switch wire going into the chip.

just make sure you got the contacts clean. Its a whole lot easier to clean them now twice than to take it all back apart again. Mine sits about flush, covered the opening with duck tape, for 2 reasons.. seal for dust, duct tape does not peel off the housing like electrical tape will. Have fun and watch the pyro while you get on it.

well i had a ford reman pcm and apparantl the guy before me had a chip so i just wiped it and put it in, i must have it in correctly because it runs AWESOME and the stock pcm cover did fit back over very close but still fit.
