Went from the Banks Monster exhaust (3" DP --> 3" pipe into muffler and 3.5" out the rear)
I removed the Banks muffler and used a 3/3.5" adaptor and 30 deg elbow and took the 3.5" all the way from the DP out the back.
Still not to loud, nice note. I can hear the turbo whirring, if there is something on the road to reflect the sound I can hear engine note as well but on the open road its still very quiet in the cab. Turbo spools just a little faster and noticable boost in hiway power, not monumental but noticable.
I can hear a throaty sound from the intake now that did not exist before. On hard acceleration it sounds a little like a 460.
This is just a little feedback for those thinking about it, well worth it.
I believe I always will prefer the sound of a straight pipe. I loved the straight pipe on my PSD, and just yesterday got a piece of 4" pipe so I can cut the muffler of the 4" dual exhaust I have on there now.....just need to run to NAPA and get a couple of 4" clamps.
I just removied my muffler on my 7.3 non turbo diesel yesterday and ts pretty darn loud. I still have the orignal exhaust back to the back of the cab and stoped it there. (just trying to expirment to see if it would run any better or not) i think I am goign to install 3inch flowmaster and pipe on it untill i get a turbo to help quiet it down some.

Ya, the non turbo will be loud, the turbo cuts down alot of the sound
