I have been having this same problem for a long time and in my 95 F-150 4x4 w/ 302. It dies at stop sign or anytime I stop. And when I attempt to pull out it will completely cutout and mis like crazy then pick up and go on IF it doesn't die again. Here's what I've done. Had a bad O2 sensor and replaced it. Replaced throttle pos. sensor, pcv and hose, idle air control valve, ignition coil and module, stator, plugs, cap and button. Wires and ran 2 bottles of injector cleaner through it. A new fule filter. I have 32 psi on the rail with 36 under load. I blocked off the EGR with hi temp. gasket material to see if it was stuck open but still the same result. No codes are showing according to Advance auto. I can't find any vacuum leaks. What's next? Thanks, David.
the ignition switch in lower steering column may be bad or corroded.
it is attached to the key tumbler by a rod.
You know the funny thing, I noticed that my key switch itself looks loose and the black grip on it will turn completely around but not the internal parts. Exactly where is this switch located at that you're talking about?
EDIT. Knowing that a fuel problem is usually a more sluggish miss and an electrical one is more sharp and harder, I feel you are dead on with this diagnosis. If so, I'll put your name in my sig forever. Thanks quicklook.

The keyed lock/tumbler is where the key goes in. Remove cowling around collumn and use a small stiff wire to stick in hole to release tumbler. Must have key in it.
The actual ignition switch is near the pedal assy's on the collumn itself with a rod running up the collumn to the key stuff. Cheap and easy but I doubt if it is the culprit.
More likely things:
Vacum leak. Doesn't take much of a leak to make truck act like you describe.
One or more sensors in the air intake between filter and manifold are dirty, broke or unconnected. Would show a CEL code though.
