98 Explorer doesn't always start
I've seen several threads about the Explorers not starting, and it all seems to come back to the fuel pump...any other ideas?! Mine is not predictable AT ALL! It does seem to happen after going in and out of stores (turning on and off within 20 minutes or so). It turns over, the idle gets very "shaky" and then it cuts out. Sometimes when it gets "shaky", I can shift into a gear, and then it will cut out. I had it in the shop about a month ago when the Check Engine light actually came on after one of these episodes. That was the first time the light had come on, and the code they found was for an Oxygen Sensor. That was replaced, however it still happens quite frequently. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! If you need more clues...I'm willing to try to explain with more details.

Just a total shot in the dark, but I had a Taurus do something similar and it turned out to be a coolant temp sensor. Sometimes it would start and die (like it was out of gas) if I tried to start it when warm. When it was really cold outside, it wouldn't start at all or was a rough start. Other times it would start with no problems.
