head gasket or block?

well, bad news on the 83 f-100 front...

the oil has coolant mixing in it, but what is strange is the mixing is in the
bottom of the pan, as the dipstick only looks contaminated at the end,
not all of the oil.

my guess is a crack in the block between an oil gallery and a water jacket
and the coolant is seeping into the engine through the oil pump when the
engine is hot and not running.

i'm not sure a head gasket would cause this, but either way, it looks like
big work ahead. anyone else have this trouble?

Had this trouble on a 351C. It was the timing chain cover rusted through.
