Upgrades
I have a 96 F-150 with the 5.8l 351W. i just bought it and i have $800 to spend on it..i just did an exhaust now what else can i do to upgrade the performance of my truck with out tearing alot of things apart..i has a K&N filter in it and thats about it

you didnt do much anything then to your exhaust. the bottleneck on our fords is the stock manifolds and Y pipe. Check out some gibson,jba,edelbrock,bbk or bassani headers and bassani Y pipe with or without cats. then run a good quality muffler. if you go with 3" pipe from the cats out stock location then you will be noticing some gains. then look into maybe a BBk 56mm throttlebody and K&N intake setup. put some new 9mm ford wires , motorcraft copper plugs and set your timing to 12*btdc. that should wake things up a bit. by removing your muffler you probably hurt power output low in the rpm range and moved it up . so in a way that step was counter productive.
