Just dropped off my front axle to get new king pins, etc. installed at my local machine shop. Just not comfortable with a hammer and etc.,see recent post reagarding king pin removal.. Getting ready to order from Mid Fifties the reverse eye main set to drop the front end, . According to there info if you remove every other leaf (still using the stock remaing leaf springs)she will drop approx. 3.5 inches which is enough for me. My question is, install the new main reverse eye leaf, add second longest stock leaf next and then start dropping every other one down to the shortest. Always heard you don't want to leave the main leaf unsupported too far from the eyes. If that is the case is that going to give me the drop I am looking for and is that the best way to do the install?
The second longest leaf will interfere with the reverse eye. If you keep that one, you will need to cut a little off each end to allow the pack to slip against each other. The third leaf might be enough support for the main. You'll have to see it. Drop out every other one.
