I just recently bought a bronco from a junkyard with a blowen trans. got that fixed now i need to get it inspected it was last inspected in 03 it passed both emssions and safety. I have no worrys that it will pass afety but i fear it wont pass emssions. heres why. the emssions light stays on costantly. looks like there might have been an air pump there brackets and hoses but no air pump. however there is no empty v grooves so if there was an air pump what did it drive off of. also on the drivers side of the motor theres hard plastic lines and sensosors that are unhooked/broke off there mounts. any body no if i need all this junk or will it pass with out it. what are some things that trip that light on. if push comes to shove ill unhook the light but they use a sniffer tester so it has to be running clean enough for it to pass that. other then that it drives fine has good power does fiarly good in the mud around the farm here. thanks for any help sorry for the long post.
Uh, well, I guess it's got the 300 in it? Carbed or EFI?
My carbed 300 truck just has an EGR connecting the exhaust manifold to the base of the carburetor. When I had it inspected last time it was producing 5x the legal limit of CO. I took it to Maxi and they leaned out my carb and retarded my timing to make the truck run leaner and burn hotter, I guess it burned off more emissions than it did normally, and then they had me go through the sniffer without my air filter installed. Passed with flying colors after all that... hope that helps, and if I'm wrong about the effects of carb and timing, someone please correct me, since I'm still learning
