Engine not warming up
I have a 2002 ford f150 wiht the 4.6 v8. I cant't remember what my gauge use to read but it seems kinda low. Granted i Live in Noth Dakota right now and its really cold but still after i drive it on the highway it shoudl warmup. Where is ur needel at usually? Mine never reaches the top of the little figure in it. Is that normal or do i need to replace the thermostat?

Check the actual operating temp with an external device such as a non-contact IR thermometer. It will tell you what the actual operating temp is so you can tell if it's running cold and the guage is correct or if it's running correctly and the guage is wrong.

turn your truck on and put the heat on as hot as it will get on high and see if it get's HOT....if it gets "nuke warm" your thermostate is working but if it only gets "kinda warm" it's stuck open
