firing order

Well I am going to fire her up for the 1st time in years tonight. With the removal and rebuild of the engine, I lost my manual, and am installing new wires. I was looking for the firing order online, and found this:

Is this the right schematic for my 1978 Lincoln 302? (D8VE casting)

Thanks guys, and Im sure Ill be posting once I get home.

Fireing order should be stamped on your Intake.

I have an aftermarket aluminum intake. Had I saved the old one instead of turning it into a boat anchor, Id have a look.

Rich, The correct firing order .... according to Chilton's book is: 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 for 302's after 1975 and up ..... distributor rotation is counterclockwise. Hope this helps.

I have a 351 W and the firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8, so not sure on the 302 at this moment.

My Ford Performance Book says that the firing order shown in your picture is correct.

I wired ignition, filled her with oil, coolant, hooked up throttle cable, and when I went to install plug wires, I realized that the wires I got at.. (yep you guessed it,Kragen) -were the wrong ones. I got the wires for my year of engine, but forgot what I had dealt with before. I have an electronic ignition installed, and the wires were for the points system. (different dist. ends)

Therefore, no startup until day after tomorrow at the earliest.

Shucks!

302 HO is same firing order as 351W. Sounds like yours is not HO. So your diagram is correct. Jow
