Talking about 4WD Launch!!

I have a 04 F350 supercad, longbed with the bullydog dog pup downloader, intake, 4" MRBP exhaust and 35" mud terrians.

I go down and race at the philly street races all the time and there are some pretty fast cars down there. A neon SRT-4 modded up ask if i would race. I said alright. We line up, I put it in 4WD and I launched truck at about 3k RPM with 34 psi of boost. The whole front end was chirping and I took off. The SRT-4 never even had a chance. He was angry about that one. I had also raced a loaded up mustang, and 2 suberu wrx sci with turbos. None of them had a chance. Every person down there thought I would loose.

Just a little experince with launching my truck in 4 wheel drive, lol

cool, my brakes felt like they would break free above 20psi and 2200 rpm with a SCMT. It sure is an awesome feeling.

Holding your torque converter with your brakes above the lockup RPM (1800 RPM??) is just asking to remove parts the 3 second way. These TS tranys are tough, but not that tough. At just below 1800 RMP, you have the turbo already spooling up (it goes from 10 psi to max quickly), and greatly reduce the risk of jacking your trany. Of course, no auto trany likes to be held at any higher RMP without movement for any amount of time, slipping the torque converter builds a lot of heat very quickly.

I busted a u joint on a ford with a 351 brake torquing it. I agree, about 1500-1800rpm is ok, but 3k rpm is too much,

I didn't even know about the video, someone else must have been recording. It is cool though to see your own truck on the internet.

If you don’t mind, I’m curious how long it takes to get to 30 psi of boost (compared to getting to just 10 psi)? I’m not brave enough to hold my past the TC lockup RPM.

Well kinda....nice evidence in court when something goes wrong street racing.

Beware of what you do and keep it on the track.

There are a handful of trucks I have direct experience with that have done this very thing at least a few hundred times.
The occasional 4WD launch is fun =o)

Yeah, that takes some nerves.

It's easier at the track, where you kow how long you'll have to do it, but timing it in the street races is a little trickier. Every second you pray a little harder it stays together, lol.
