Where is the throttle position sensor and what does it do. Have an 88 F150 4X4 with a 5.0L and a M5OD. When i go the shift gears when you let your foot of the gas and punch the clutch to shift it will rev up a little more before the rpm's drop. I've owned the truck for 3years and i've always wonder why does that. Even if you just rev the engine it will do the same thing. What could cause this. I was reading a post about some changing one when the tuned it up and was wondering if that sensor controls that.
the tps is directly under the throttlebody. its black with 3 wires coming out of it. another culprit to your idle issue may be from the IAC valve located on the driver side of the throttlebody. also check for vacum leaks , these may cause flucuations in idle as well.
