Hey guys
I had an aftermarket exhaust installed on my 4.6 '02 SCrew and didn't see any gains at all. I read on one thread that the stock 2.5" exhaust was just as good as any aftermarket exhaust and that they were just a waste of money and so far I agree, although it sounds good. Would any one else agree? My aftermarket is 3" in and 3" out. Would going back to 2.5" in and 2.5" out increase performance?
You won't "feel" the slight increase in horsepower you have gained because it's such a small amount or next to nothing. No need to go back to original now that you have done the deed, the good side of things is that if you decide to supercharge your beast, the larger exhaust will make a huge difference then.
the trucks exhaust is efficient for stock.....so putting somethign on that flows better when it really doesn't have to won't do anything and it proves true every time one of us puts exhaust on our trucks.....it does sound better and i think thats the thing that gets all of us is the rumble of a V8.....like xtrford said.....if you were to supercharge or turbocharge the truck then you will see a huge difference in power becasue you then need to get the exhaust out of the motor faster
I put a 2 3/4 pipe cat back with a flow master, cant tell any change in power but the engine feels like it is running smoother. On the down side I think my gas milege has taken a hit, maybey not enough back pressure has messed with the flow sensor?????
We all know that the converters are the big restriction in the exhaust system, so cat back systems really won't do much. A lot of money for little or no gain.

How much more do you think these trucks could gain if we temporarily replaced the cats with straight tube until it became time for inspection/smog, etc? Would it set off the Service Engine Soon light? I've thought about flanging the Cats and removing them but didn't know if it would be worth it.
