Hey guys,
I haven't posted much year cause of my school stuff...I miss FTE. Anywho, while the Bko is in the shop (dunno yet) I have been driving my dad's Sport Trac, I enjoy it. Very chirpy for a V6 . Namely the one touch rear window, press it and release it goes down an inch or two. Twist right-release, goes all the way up from 'open'. Twist left and release goes all way down from closed. So, what would it take to swap 'setup' this over to my Bko? Is it just the switch and some Magyver wiring or more complicated? Oh yes, Mine truck is a '93 XLT.
I don't think having that capability in the Bko would be worth the pain. I believe it would be more than a switch in the dash. Some where between the switch and the motor their would have to be a comgomorate of switches and relays, I would think they are built attached to the motor. If this is the case then you would need to be a electrical smart kind of guy to be able to hook these relays to your motor...or switch motors and then you would have to be a realy smart guy in modifications. but what do I know.
I been kicking around this idea myself. My thought is to use a window module made for car alarms, all you need is an input pulse to the module. I've already moded the wiring in my tailgate. I was having a problem with the ground return circuit so I added two relays in the gate. Now I apply voltage to the relay and get power straight to the window motor. My window works much faster now. With this setup, I'm not worried about ovewrloading a window module and burning it up. I would also like to add a remote option to it.
Does anyone have any good experience with window modules?
To do it, you'd be looking at dealing with a switching setup that had the "auto" up-down feature built into it. A lot of vehicles have this option for the driver's window. The new Mustangs have it on BOTH windows. Heck the Bronco may even have had it as an option on some of the last models. This portion of the electronics is in the switching circuit rather than the window drive motor itself. Usually done with a timing circuit or proximity sensors (depending upon the vehicle and manufacturer).
Hello all, I had one of the remote window modules on my '96 Bronco. It was only controlled by the remote, but worked awesome just hit #3 on the controller and the window would come down. It was great if your hands were full.
