I am having a problem with my '65 F100 tail lights not always coming on unless I wiggle the wires under the hood. Also the left brake light is not working and the left turn signal comes on but doesnt blink.
First, welcome to FTE! This is one of the best places for help.
If you have to wiggle the wires under the hood, you have a loose connection.
Disconnect the plugs where they go through the firewall, and inspect them. Clean and re-set if necessary, and I bet that will cure your problem.
Check the grounds on the taillights. Check and install as needed, the grounds between the bed and frame, cab and frame, front clip and frame, block and cab and block and frame.
Welcome,
Took Banjo's advise when I rewired my 65 and found it solved many of my problems. Sounds like the left turn signal and rear light issue could be due to a poor ground. Otherwise, suggest take a look at the flasher unit located under the dash. Cleaned all the above noted connections Banjo mentioned then followed up with diaelectric grease to slow down the corrosion. After painting the frame decided to add couple of extra ground straps purchased at local auto parts store.
another thing to check is where the bulb acually plugs in. sometimes the socket where it plugs into gets corroded and wollered out and doesn't make a good contact. these old trucks are cronic when it comes to grounding. 95 percent of the time it's just a bad grd.
