89 FI inline 6 to carb.

i was wondering if anyone has modfied a FI inline to a carberated? in sick of the computer bull and just want to get to something i know whats wrong instead of pulling codes and trying to figure out whats going on. i know i need an intake, a dura-spark ignition system and also drop the fuel pressure from 40-60 psi to about 5. can anyone help me with this?

well, sounds like you know what to do, so go at it. even though i feel the fi is more practical for a dd truck but hey. get a fuel pressure regulator, and change out eh parts.

You also can't have an E4OD transmission becuase it somehow uses the TPS to shift.

You could get a baumann transmission controller and retrofit a TPS to the carb linkage and keep the E4OD. My biggest issue would be the fuel pump system. I don't think it's prudent to drop fuel pressure by roughly 90%, even with a bypass regulator, so the question is, are there any electric fuel pumps that fit in the tanks like the factory ones but only put out 5-6 lbs? Or how would one setup the system to use a mechanical pump? Get tank pickups from an older truck? Just take the existing pumps out and dangle an extension hose to the bottom of the tank?

i got away using the stock dis. from the FI and also the in tank pump runs at 4 psi. but i put a offenhauser 4 barrel intake on her and have a 4 barrel holley 750 cfm carb on it now. the 750 floods her out a little but gets the job done. but overall it was quite easy. the only thing that toook the longets time was to swap intakes...darn girlfriends dont let a guy get his stuff done.
