Dumb, dumb question and I feel like an a$$ for even asking since it should be so obvious. How the heck to I get the entire tail light assembly off/out of my truck bed?
I dropped the bed, removed the two bolts and what I can tell there are still two nuts to remove, do you think I can see a way to get at them. Uh-uh.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
The reason, bought some new tail light assemblies.
On my 2001 you lower tailgate. On each taillight lens there are two screws holding them. Remove the screws and then the lens has its own push pins built onto it so you have to pull the lens off. If your worried about skuffing your paint put alittle tape (masking) type at top & bottom edge. They come off hard so you have to pull more than you think Good luck..
No problem if you in need of replacemant bulbs you probably know its a 3057 for the backup. But if you decide to get fancy and go the new L.E.D. bulbs you will need to replace you flasher too. I know you didnt mention this but I just did the led bulbs and flasher so I thought I would let you know. Take care.
Yep...two push pins on the outside portion of the tailight housing. Once the two screws are removed gently pull back on the inside portion of the housing. With the other hand use your fingers and get underneath the housing on the outside and pry out. I wouldn't pry the housing against the sheet metal if you know what I mean.
