Chapter Membership Question

OK guys, I want to ask everyone to respond to the poll listed on this thread and give me some feedback. We are looking at a membership fee, which will include a membership package for the member and help to offset costs for our outings. So let us know what your opinion is on this.
Our discussion was towards a small fee to help offset the costs of creating a membership package, hopefully to include a membership card, shirt, hat, window decal, etc. All those who sign-up would receive a discounted cost for attending outings and such. All money is to go towards the chapter to help with the cost of our outings, and any other non-profit ideas brought up at our monthly meetings.
So give us your ideas.

Thanks.
-AJ

i think we should have dues, but have them only to pay for shirts, outings and such. like we talked about at the meeting i dont really think we should have just dues for no reason other than to line someones pocket, but yall are all cool so i doubt that would happen. if we happen to get extra money we could use it to put into fixing one of our members rigs if someone were to break down etc.

Like we talked about at the meeting, as long as we are non-profit, we're good to go. Old Tired Rebel mentioned the other night that we could also consider doing fund raising for a local charity every so often, and put some of the extra money towards that.
We didn't get into this to make a profit, we did it to meet some good people and have some fun.

10-4 good buddy, i hear ya art

I think it would be a good idea to set up some events, or attend events to help out local charitys. like if there was a cancer walk or something, we could maybe get a booth or something and setup a raffle for a truck or something like that to raise money for the event or cause.

OK, here's another idea to throw out there for an outing. I've got a buddy of mine who is hoping to open a new slot car track in downtown Fuquay Varina. The track he bought is 150 foot road course, 8 lanes. I'm going to be helping him some with getting the place together, and I've talked to him about a discount on doing a group gathering. His plan is to be closed on Sunday, so if we do it that day, then we can have the place to ourselves.
I'm thinking a family gathering there, followed by a barbecue a few miles up the road in my backyard. If we do it, I'd like to plan for August time before the kids go back to school...make it a fmaily gathering.
If everyone is interested, then I'll look into it. Another option for this is we could get hold of some unpainted bodies (2005 F-150s) and have a small giveaway for the kids who paint their own...maybe for us adults too.
Let me know what you think.

everytime i hear the word "slotcars" i think of the scene in SLAPSHOt where the hanson brothers are racing them in the hotel room.
