My 99 F-250 7.3 powerstroke engine has been acting up on me lately. Today I drove about 30 miles and the engine lost power and was running rough. I gave it gas and it would not respond or pull. Service engine light came on. I pulled over on the side of the road and waited a few seconds and it straightened out. I went another 4 or 5 miles it did it again. I drove it later and it never did it. It has done it on me about two times in the past. What could this be?
I been reading up on the CPS problems with the 7.3. When the CPS goes out, does the engine cutoff or does the truck just loose power. Cause mine isn't dying, its just loosing power to the point I have to pull over. I'm gonna take it to the parts store tomorrow to see if they can put it on the computer to pull the error codes.

Hello dukhunt22, When your CPS goes bad, your truck engine does shut off. you can usually restart after a few minutes, most of the time.
When was the last time you chain your fuel filter, check the filter first. IMO
I changed the fuel filter about 3 weeks ago. It did it once before I changed it,and the other day twice after I changed it. So I don't think that is the problem. I'm thinking it could of had water in the fuel or something wrong with the injectors. I still haven't been able to put it on a computer to read the error codes. I'm gonna try tomorrow to do that. Maybe that will get me closer to the problem.
