engine swaping wiring
I have a '79 f-150 4x4, I took out a inline 6 and am putting a 460 in, will I have to change all my electrical? it has a HEI distributor so I will just put a new cap and rotor in it, but i know a better coil will be a good idea, but I am hoping all my ignition and wiring should work, I appreciate any info, thanks #####

If you have a stock ford 460 electronic distributor your stock harness should be long enough to plug in. I did not have to change my harness when I replaced my inline 6 with a 390. The only wire that you will need to extend is the oil pressure wire but you should run an aftermarket mechanical gauges. If you put a high output coil on it you will probably have to cut the factory coil connector off. You will have to use a couple of solder or crimp connectors to attach to the new coil.
