I was cleaning my truck the other day and noticed some type of overspray on the hood. I don't know if it is paint or what. Does anyone have any advise for getting rid of it? My truck is black and I don't want to do anything that will ruin the paint.
I somehow managed to get white paint splattered on the front of my truck; I used one of the clay bars you see at the auto parts stores. Took alot of rubbing but it got it all off.
I had this happen before and used meguiars cleaner/wax to take it off and it worked good. As long as the overspray is on your clearcoat which I am sure it is this should work. Apply it in the SHADE and follow the directions on the bottle. There are some harsher methods but try the least intrusive ones first. This happened to me when I had to get part of my truck re-painted because a couple of shingles from a wind storm hit the driver side of my truck. The body shop got some overspray on my tonneau cover and they got most of it off but there was still some left, so I did it myself with meguiars. If you want a job done right do it yourself.
As others have said, a clay bar is the best approach. It's non-abrasive so it takes a fair amount of work but will do the job without damaging the paint or leaving scratches or swirl marks (particularly important with black paint).
Thanks for all the recommendations. I think I will try the clay bar on it. My main concern was not blemishing the black paint since every little mark will show up.

I currently own a Jet Black Non metallic black sports car (BMW). And I polish, wax, and do all sorts of things to keep it new. Mind you this car is 2 years old and got the whole front resprayed last year due to my OCD in keeping car paint scratchfree. So the paint is about one year old. Long story short, there are minor scratches and pretty much, with a black car, you will see imperfections up close. Everytime you touch the painted surface, you pretty much scratch it. But boy, does it look classy when its clean. Its all worth it. A love hate relationship
