ses question

I am assuming that the small engine shaped light on the dash is the ses light. I have purchased the map line piece from black cloud. When I reconnected the batteries that light was off and it stays off when I drive it around mellow. But, when I romp on the truck the light comes on and stays on forever. I thought the map line piece was surppose to keep that light off. Any ideas?
Thanks

I'd say you want to check and see what code it is leaving you - then go from there. The doo-dad you put in the MAP line should take care of that reason for the ses light to be on... What kind of boost are you seeing when it's setting the light? Back before I put my regulator in the MAP line, and I'd get the overboost ses light - it would not stay on for very long at all - so you may have another condition setting the light, with it staying on for a long time like you say.

Thanks catman,The highest boost I have seen is 25lbs but it is rare, most of the time when you mashing the throttle it is around 22 but I have seen 25.I dont have a code scanner but maybe I need one.The instuctions with the chip I have said it wll trip the light in some trucks but not all, they said dont worry but I dont like the light on that why I got this line from blackcloud.02 F-350

Yea I know all trucks are a little different as to what PSI boost will set the SES light - but if you are only around 22, 25psi max, WITH a boost relief valve before the MAP sensor - I'd say that you have something else setting the light. I also would at least want to know what is setting that ses light!!!

I have heard that places like AutoZone will read the DTC codes for free - though I don't have any experience with that. I would have probably kept my tuner, to use it as a code reader, when I got a flip-chip - but I have a couple buddies with tuners, so I just bum one of theirs if I want to check my codes.

I dont have the blow off valve in the line,I have the wireing one that goes between the map senser and the plug going to it.The guy told me to use that one because it over fuels a little at low rpm because it shows 21lbs boost all the time.02 F-350

Ooooo ok - sorry I just assumed you meant a relief valve.

I'm not sure what "the guy" is talking about - but that doesn't make any sense to me at all??

Personally I'd send back whatever it is that you got, and get a real relief valve - it could very well BE that doo-dad setting your SES light....
