Well, you could start off with a new set of headers for it. I know of people getting high zoot sets of headers for $400, but I paid $166 for a set of Hooker Headers. If you have a Non-Catalyst truck, you're going to pay less for a good dual exhaust system as you won't have to buy a catalytic converter. If you go with a 2 1/2" true dual exhaust with an X-pipe to equalize the pressure in both pipes, you'll be happy. I was quoted $415 parts and labor for the install of the headers and exhaust, and we have almost the same truck. I have an 86 F-250HD with a 460.
As far as the mufflers go, some people like Flowmaster and Dynomax, but I like Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers. They aren't as loud as Flowmasters, but they still have a good rumble to them and they flow really well.

I have a 86 F250 HD and it's a non catalyst truck too. Ilooked in the LMC catalog I have they have a Off Road dual exhaust system listed in the catalog and it stated that it was for 302-351 but didn't have one listed for a 460.I am planning to call them to see what size the exhaust was.If it's a 2 1/2 inch I know it will work ok but I am sketchy if it will work if it's a 2 1/4. any opinion?
