I do not see why not, use any 1G 12V Alternator. An Alternator does not know if it is a 6 - 12 - 24 or 120 volts, this is determined by the regulator. They are all three phase AC generating devices, I do not know what the reverse voltage rating of the diodes but I know a 12V will handle 6V. Just use a 6-volt regulator and you will need to adjust it to your setting by bending (or turning the adj screws) it using and amp and volt meters.

I don't see why a properly operating 6v generator would not handle those loads. My 53 f100 had all that and had the original generator.

Hi;
Tks for the comebk. There's a little play in my gen. & some have suggested that it be rebuilt. With no prior experience here doing this stuff, is that a hard job?
My biggest objective is to get the lites brighter and keep the battery up even when doing short trips. I've got some info for hdlt relays to boost them up and recently found a vendor for 6v halogen bulbs! It's my understanding that neither gen. can keep the batt. up with short hops.

Hi;
Now I'm really confused! What's the purpose of a 12v alt. if it thinks it's a 6v?
Alt's come in diff. amp ratings too, right?
Tks~JH~

They come in different amp ratings.
What I was saying is an Alt does not know what voltage it is other than gap jumping voltage ratings. The voltage regulator says what the charging voltage is, about 13.5 to 14 volts for a 12-volt and about 7 volts for a 6-volt system.
The purpose is that I though you were looking for something to put out more Amps. for your 6 volt system.

Hey Subford ;
Thanks for your help. Yes, I'm looking for more power in my electrics put would like to stay with my original 6v equipment, if possible. I guess I really don't understand vehicle wiring or it wouldn't be so hard to grasp it. I'm trying to stay as close to original with everything, because they all work now. Doing the min. but still improving how she runs is what I'm after.
