Subwoofer question

I have a 100w per channel / 300w bridged amp. I will be buidling my own enclosure. But I haven't decided on a perticular make/model of speaker. I am looking at 10" subs; would it be better to run two 10's in a sealed box, or one 10" in a ported box given my power available.

The Subs I am currently looking at are Infinity Reference 1040W. Price is right, reveiws are good. (I am cheap and I am not looking at winning compititions). The subs are rated at 60-250 watts RMS and 1000 Peak.

a little more info: I am designing an enclosure that will face the speaker(s) down about 2-3" from the floor. Box will be behind the seats on a ext cab ranger. I need to make sure that my dog won't hurt my speakers. Advice is always welcome.

thanks
tom

Could use the make model of amp for better clarification. 300 W RMS at 2 Ohm may only be 150 to 175 @ 4 Ohm load; 100 W @ 2 Ohm may be more like 50 - 60 W @ 4 Ohm. At any rate, a 300 W amp would be perfect for a 250 W sub, w/matching impedence. Buying two of those subs and running them on 100 W each would be a waste of money on a sub, IMO. Running a ported box will give you a bit better low frequency response and the sub will require less power; a sealed box will save space and require more power.

When you get everything installed, use this page to tune everything up:... http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Tutor...plifier_Tuning

I think you answered my question. I can't think of the name of the amp, but it isn't anything to brag about. I would guess it would be on the lacking side. Which I would say, single speaker w/ ported box would be the way to go.

thanks
