I have an 02 F250 7.3 diesel with a 3 inch lift, 4 inch magnaflow exhaust, and AFE stage2 cold air intake. Now it's time for a programmer, Not sure which one to get edge, hyperpac, banks or maybe a chip? Has anybody had good or bad luck with one of those?
My advice, don't go with a tuner at all. Go with a DP Tuner flip chip by Jody Tipton. See more here: www.dp-tuner.com.
I've switched from a tuner (Predator) to the DP chip, and couldn't be happier. I know of at least 2 or 3 other guys here who have also recently done the same thing. We foolishly spent our money on a tuner, just to later spend more money on a DP chip once we found out how good they are.
I see you're new to the site. Welcome. Run a search on the forum about the DP chip. Anytime you see DP Tuner, DP chip, DP flip chip, or Jody's chip, thery're all talking about the same thing. This forum can provide you with tons of useful info that will both save you time an money. Take this one to heart, get the chip, not the tuner.
If your PSD is still under warranty, get a tuner (so you can take out the tune just before you take it in for service), if its not under warranty, get a chip. At least with most tuners, you get a code reader with it.
If you want to race, the flip chip is absolutely the way to go.
If you want a little more power for towing, don't care about being the first guy away from the stoplight, want to read codes and diagnose your own problems, get a tuner.

Another option may be to get a whole PCM from Jody with his programming burned in it. I've heard that even if you remove the tuner's programming before you take it in, the dealer can somehow trace the fact that you've had a tuner in it. If you get a whole PCM from Jody, you can take your stock one out and put it on the shelf, then just put the stock one back in if you have to go in for warranty work. Then, there's no traces of tuning, since you haven't done anything to your stock PCM.

Not necessarily. On the 80 hp setting, my DP chip provides more power, less smoke, and lower EGTs than my Predator tuner did on the 85 hp setting. Plus, the other thing that I see as an advantage the chip has over a tuner, is the ability to change programs on the fly. No need to stop the truck to change programs. That way, say I'm towing a heavy load and I see my EGTs are too high, I can just change it to a lower setting while I drive.

It works the other way around too. If you see someone itching to see your taillights, flip it over to the 120HP setting and watch the smoke pour out your exhaust and the other person disappear After you're done, switch it back to your normal setting you run.

You can get the 80hp tune you're running on a tuner as well.
Not disagreeing about the flip chip, the flexability is great.
It just depends on what your goals are.
Jody make awesome stuff but I got a steal on a TS 6 postion chip and really like it. Not to take nothing away from Jody's chip but I am really pleased with my set up.
