i believe air was an option over a span of years (all years?) not necessarily determined by the model - and whether or not a given truck has air/spring depends more on the original package than the year.

Both of you are correct. ( I should really do more research ) You could get air suspension on all four corners on the 4X4 models while the 4X2 models only had it on the back. My 00 EB has it and so far knock on wood it's been working like a charm.
