Brake Drum/Seal
I have a 1997 F350 single rear wheel. I took the brake drum off for the first time. A few questions poped up. first.... The inner wheel oil seal stayed in the drum after removal, but a metal ring stayed around(behind) the seal race. Is that part of the seal? how is it attached to the seal? It does not apper to come off from behind the seal race on the spindle. second, how does the locking nut get re tightened to the spindle? does it require touque? or leave a little play for the bearings?
Third, what is the best way to insert the new seal on the inside of the drum?
