I just purchased a 1984 Bronco II. 2.8, 5 spd. I took my first MPG check: 8.3MPG! please, any advise on what I could do relatively simply and inexpensively try and get this number up. thanks.

The only suggestion that I've read is to duraspark convert it, the old improperly functioning electronic carb and electronic system are usually the culprit.

Yeh,dude i think you should tune that thing up big time. New igntion system parts (sparkplugs, cap, rotor), clean out your carb, change the oil, etc.Check if the choke is sticking....

Do a complete tune-up, and I would suggest possibly either rebuilding the carb or getting a rebuilt one... but first, check your carb's settings and make sure you're not idling high, the choke isn't sticking, etc. Worst case, you spend the better part of a day removing, dissassembling, boiling out, reassembling, and installing... then testing your work
