Shop Presses----What's The Difference?

I need a shop press. I see everything from 6 ton to 50 ton models available from Harbour Freight. A few, namely the 6 ton floor model perplexes me, as it seems you nearly have to lie on the floor to operate it. Is a 10 ton model a correct choice for mostly automotive work, i.e. pressing differential bearings, etc? Any comments or experiences to share?

The 12T #33497-4RTH seems to be the best buy right now for $120. It will do everything except the BIG trucks. That 6T model would have to be mounted on a bench. Many times you need the space under the unit for a large part like an axle.

Also, I believe that the 12 Ton is currently on sale for $99 if you have a HF retail store near you. Not a bad deal.

i have a 40 ton industrial free standing unit, and sometime's it's not big enough, but to keep you out of trouble, a 10 ton unit should do fine... biggest thing with a press is having enough blocking.. belive me, it takes alot

Thanks to all for the input. I bought the 12T model, as stated above, on sale for $99.00, a nice surprise to find.
