I was wondering if this was a good deal? I already have 2 1966 fords I am trying to make one good one out of, and this really caught my eye. How are these to work on? How easy are parts to find? Hopefully Somebody can help me out here, Thanks.
If the body isn't totally ratted out and you have or want to learn some bodywork skills, that would make a great project. The bad news is that the 57-60 are the orphan years as far as model specific body replacement panels etc, the good news is the Panel truck especially has very few complex panels that would be difficult to make repair panels for, and they share a lot of the mechanicals from the 53-56 models and the parts stores still carry a lot of the repair parts as well. That's a pretty rare truck, so if you have the skills and/or the money to put it back on the road I'd go for it, you aren't likely to see another one coming down the road at you.
Hmmm...sounds good. I am going in for a journeyman Mechanic, and have no problem doing body work. (my dad was an autobody technician for many years too). I just might have to go for it. Thanks!
That is a great looking project - in fact I would not have posted the ad until I had bought it. When it comes to buying old trucks all's fair - another member might buy it out from under you.
Assuming the body is not full of rust it would easy fetch twice the asking price in the states, and is a hard to find body style.

And that's in Canadian dollars... better buy it quick!
I wish i could...Im in university and dont even have a vehicle to go look at it with. (Im a good 6 hrs away) and then i would have to tow it home....which would be a 2 day drive from there! At least if i cant get it...I no somebody from this site will at least take care of it!
To answer your question...$1200 for a 57 Merc Panel is a SMOKING GOOD DEAL!!!
There weren't that many 57's made, fewer are still running...panels are rarer. If the body and badging are all there, you have a truly rare find. Fixed up, this truck would be awsome and worth a lot.
I am in Pennsyulvania and there is a 57 near me for sale, it is also a Mercury, it appears in about the same condition, but has a V-8..price for it is $3500.00. so.......
