f150 gear problems+

f150 gear problems+

well i have a 91 f150 v6 manual i was driven it the other day down a hill then all the sudden i couldnt do anything but brake when i reached the bottom and let it cool off i could drive it but i had to hold it in to gear but when i did that is smoked thro the stick area and im stumped and so are most of the ppl i kno there no grinding i didnt get a lift could it be the fluid need help thanks

Welcome to FTE!

First, your 6 cylinder engine is an Inline engine, not a V style engine.

Second, I'm having a hard time understanding what happened, could you elaborate?

What did you mean by "all of a sudden I couldn't do anything but brake"?

The more detailed you are the better we can understand you

well it wouldnt go in to gear not unless u held it and now after that time u have to hold it into gear to drive but if u do that it smokes outa the stick area and im just tryin to fine sumone who could tell me if it was the clutch tranny or if a fluid change would do the trick

sounds like the synchros may be shot, the fluid needs changed and the clutch needs replaced
