'04 dash removal?

Does anyone know how to remove the dash, or the gray plastic strips that run front to back on the dash (in line with the vents)? I am searching for a rattle behind the dash near the windshield.

Noise

What Kind of noise is it? when does it make the noise on the highway in town? My 2004 screw was making a rattle on the highway it sounded like it was coming from the dash but it was the plastic cowl in between the hood and the winsheald. then it rattled on the winsheald. it had just come unsnaped I read some other posts about this to

Are you talking about the strips that the vents are actually mounted in? If so, I am sorry, but that can't be removed without taking the whole dash out because it is all 1 piece. The painted part(in my FX4) of the dash is actually part of the entire frame of the dash. Only the plastic pieces (in my case, black) can be removed to get access behind the dash. I believe these just pop on and off, but I am not 100% sure.

The only reason I know the dash is one piece is because the dealership damaged mine and had to replace it and they brought me in to examine to new dash before it was installed.

Good picture. Those are what I am talking about too. Do these come off separate, and if so, how?

My dash is a little different since I have an FX4 with a floor shifter, but I believe those pieces are part of the frame of the dash. You would have to remove the lighter grey pieces to get into the dash. Those pieces should just have compression clips. Of course, your dash could be different since we have different model trucks, but I highly doubt Ford is manufacturing more than one type of dash for these trucks.

Yes me too!! And I also narrowed my search down to the windshield wipers as well. So I went out and spent $45 on a pair of PIAA Sporza (it has spoilers on it so it doesnt rattle or smack the windshield when on high speed). But its def the cowl. I epoxyed it after being taken to the dealership twice and getting it replaced with a new cowl. They even said Detroit claims it doesnt snap in and that it is suppose to not snap in? ? ? ?

The only trim that does come off is the radio bezel trim, which comes off all as one piece from top to bottom. The climate control comes out with this bezel. There is (if i remember correctly) 8 clips. Definitely use some sort of plastic or nylon pry tool. I have that one from Pro-fit, and i use It weekly for installing equipment and it works great. Without that, you will gouge up the dash. www.panavise.com shows more as well.
