I have a 1978 Shortbox 2wd ford truck that I would like to do a restoration on when I graduate from school. What I would like to know is what seems to be the most popular look for trim. Right now I have the race track style that goes all the way down the body lines and back with a narrower strip on the bottom. Is it more common to see the trucks with no trim, the ones with the one piece running down the side or the race track style. I guess it is preference but would race track be overdoing the chrome?
If the trim is in good condition then keep it. It is a matter of personal opinion, but I think the trim really dresses a truck up. The racetrack trim is pretty hard to come by at a reasonable price. Took me almost a year to find all I needed for my 79 F-150. I ended up getting it all for about $20.00. Took a lot of shopping around though.
keep it I started a post similar to this , its still going, its called "anodized aluminum trim" I think the trim looks very nice especially if you get it restored.....
GOOD LUCK
Thanx for the opinions, like I thought it would be a popular look and I feel that keeping it would be a good look because I dont see many s/b's with that trim.
hey man leave the trim on but if you decide not to then at least keep the trim wraped up in tape put in a safe place.you may want to put it on later.but always remember ITS YOUR TRUCK do it the way you like it.thats what customizing is all about.
