Hello PSD gurus. Been lurking for a while and plan on doing the in tank mod this week end. I need clarification on a few things before I start.
1- How is the emergency fuel supply inlet plugged in the tank?
I have been searching all night and ca not seem to find anyone addressing this specifically. It would need to be plugged for those "under a quarter tank situations" wouldn't it?
Also just to confirm, is it 5/15 or 3/8 inch tube that needs to be extended?
Lastly a question on the harpoon mod. Is it the vent tube that extends into the tank that needs to be cut? Or is it the fill tube that extends into the tank?
Thanks all, this forum had been very beneficial.
I appreciate ya'all

I am going to be doing it this weekend also. I'm not too sure about the emergency fuel supply, I think it is built in to the factory mixing valve which you remove. There is only the feed and return line plumbed to the outside of the tank. Someone who knows more may have an answer on that. You will need to extend the fuel pickup some 3/8" and the return is 5/16". I think it's the vent on the harpoon mod, but not 100%. Don't know if you have this link, but it may help: http://community.webshots.com/album/32614313yLKyrS
There is also some instructions on diesel manor's web site.
Hope this helps some.
The way that the emergency feed is eliminated is that the 3/8" tube that you put into the factory pickup is pushed down past the little "duckbill" inlet valve, so the metal tube completely blocks off the emergency pickup. You have to enlarge the hole in the factory pickup tube just a bit with a drill. It's very soft plastic, so it's easy. ITP has some very good instructions too.
The tube is 3/8"
The harpoon mod is just cutting off the vent tube, not the filler tube. It's the smaller of the two. You'll probably want to leave an inch or so of tubing in there. Use a very small tubing cutter, and the job is a lot easier to do.
