Lighting Problem

Hello all, I have an 02 F-250 and the door ajar warning light is on. I've tried all the WD-40 and silicone tricks, nothing. I went to Ford and they sold me a replacement sensor for the lock, nothing. I'm wondering if the door is wired incorrectly. Today i opened the door and the interior lights did not come on. The keys were in the ignition and there was no ding noise. I then closed the door and the lights came on and the ding ding started. Do you thing it's wired backwards? ANY suggestions will certainly help. Thanks everyone.

That sounds like a vsm (vehicle security module) programming error. These modules fit different vehicles and have to have the correct programming. You will probably have to go to the dealer with this, unless you can find someone with the equipment.

ok. do you have any idea what a fair price is to reset/flash one of these? I think my local dealer is more interested in "taking me to the cleaners" than actually fixing my problems.

If it just a reprogram 1 - 1.5 hrs labor should do it. Has the vsm ever been changed? I have seen this problem before but only after a replacement module was installed and not programmed. If it is the original, then you could have a module problem.
