I Am Not A Mech Please Help! I Have Put On New Solenoid, And New Starter, And Battery. I Have No Power At All! I Put In These New Parts, And Its Just Like Having Battery Un Hooked! Can Someone Please Help Me? Browndragon
Not To Be A Smartass, But How Do I Check? As I Said Iam Not A Mech, Idont Have The Tools Or Knowledge Can U Or Someone Else Help Me With This. Thanks Browndragon
Make sure the truck is out of gear and cross those two big terminals on the fender mounted solenoid with something heavy like a big screwdriver. If the starter spins the motor over the battery and the starter are good as well as the heavy wiring to and from. I wonder if it's ignition switch. See if you have power in your fuse panel.

than perhaps the best idea is to have a mechanic look at your truck.

This would indicate that the Fuse Link (14GA) coming off the starter solenoid feeding a large (10GA) Black wire with an Orange stripe is open. A short at or in the Alternator usually causes this. This can also be caused by putting a fully discharged battery in a truck and when the Alternator goes to full charge it can exceed the rating of the fuse link. If the fuse link does not open under these conditions the Alternator would burn up in about three minutes. Stock size Alternators are not for charging batteries, they are for maintaining the charge. To charge a discharged battery you would use a Battery Charger.
A Fuse Link can be checked by trying to stretch it, pull on each end and if it stretches its bad.

Yes you can, put the clip from the test light on the NEG (-) side of the Battery and the point of the test light at the battery side of the Starter Solenoid, it should light. Now move the tip to the one of the two Black/Orange wires going into the Alternator at the Plug. If it lights at the Plug the Fuse Link is good and if it does not light then the Fuse Link is open (or a wire burnt in two, unlikely).
