I just bought a 99 F250 CC w/ 7.3l PSD. The overhead computer did not work so I searched this problem and found a wright up about it. And the fix worked like a charm, so thank you for who ever wrote it. Now on to my question, My cruise control doesn't work either. On my dash next to my four wheel drive **** is a black plastic lighted toogle switch. When my truck is at idle the switch lights up and I can hear a ticking noise. When I rev the engine the light goes out and the ticking stops. When I flip the toogle switch I notice nothing happes, so I chased the wires down to figure what this is. Behind the fuse panel is two relays, when I chased the wires it appears the toogle switch goes thru the relays, there is a hot wire splice into an unknown power supply with an inline fuse. The fuse is removed and I do not want to replace the fuse because I don't know what this setup is for. From the relays it goes to deactivaction switch on the master cylinder and to a sensor on the turbo pedistal. Has any one seen this setup and what is it for, and should I remove it all together. I assume this is why my cruse doesn't work as for it taps into the deactivation switch.

 

Sounds like its a DIY Exhaust brake. Very common to do. Do you have a manual or auto trans? There are simpler ways of doing the mod, if you want to keep it, there are some good wiring diagrams out there, if not, you can get rid of all the extra wiring and everything should work fine.

 

It is a 6sp manual. How could I find out more about this setup? Is there a manufacture who sells this setup. Also when it idles the relay tick.
